COME CATCH THE W.A.V.E. WITH US...

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” - Matthew 28

At Rock Harbor we want you to have more than a Sunday morning experience by learning to grow

as fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ. The Bible shows us how Christ can be part of our everyday life.

Here are the Four Steps to ‘Catch the W.A.V.E. to guide our journeys.

With God & Know God

Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings…and having our bodies washed with pure water. - Hebrews 10:22
Among Friends As Disciples

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to, fellowship to the breaking of bread and to prayer. - Acts 2:42

Volunteer Your Gifts to Discover Your Purpose

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. - Romans 12:6

Engage Your World to Make a Difference

This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. - John 15:8

WHAT WE AFFIRM

As a member of The Evangelical Covenant Church, we seek to form and nurture communities that are deeply committed to Jesus Christ and passionately engaged in Christ’s mission in the world. The purpose of Covenant affirmations is to make clear the values and principles that have guided the Evangelical Covenant Church since its founding in 1885. For Covenant people, our essential beliefs are summed up in what we call Covenant Affirmations:

  1. WE AFFIRM THE CENTRALITY OF THE WORD OF GOD.
  2. WE AFFIRM THE NECESSITY OF THE NEW BIRTH.
  3. WE AFFIRM A COMMITMENT TO THE WHOLE MISSION OF THE CHURCH.
  4. WE AFFIRM THE CHURCH AS A FELLOWSHIP OF BELIEVERS.
  5. WE AFFIRM A CONSCIOUS DEPENDENCE ON THE HOLY SPIRIT.
  6. WE AFFIRM THE REALITY OF FREEDOM IN CHRIST.

The Evangelical Covenant Church is a rapidly growing multiethnic denomination in the United States and Canada with ministries on five continents of the world. Founded in 1885 by Swedish immigrants, the ECC values the Bible as the word of God, the gift of God’s grace and ever-deepening spiritual life that comes through a faith with Jesus Christ, the importance of extending God’s love and compassion to a hurting world, and the strength that comes from unity within diversity.

The Evangelical Covenant Church is:

  • Evangelical, but not exclusive
  • Biblical, but not doctrinaire
  • Traditional, but not rigid
  • Congregational, but not independent

The Evangelical Covenant Church is a pilgrim church. Until Christ comes, we worship, serve, and witness so that the whole earth may hear God’s voice, learn of God’s love, and experience God’s joy.

Our Team

Pastor Kevin Diamond

Lead Pastor

Angie Diamond

Family Life Director

Pastor Kevin has a diverse Christian upbringing, with his parents' Catholic and Baptist backgrounds leading him to grow up in a Brethren Church. Early exposure to ministry through Young Life during high school ignited his passion for making the Gospel exciting. He met his wife, Angie, in high school, and they married after college. They both served in youth ministry roles while attending The Ohio State University.

A pivotal moment came when a pastor at Vineyard Columbus challenged Kevin to embrace his calling to ministry. Kevin and Angie served at Faith Covenant Church for nine years, during which their two sons were born, and Kevin pursued theological education at North Park Theological Seminary. Upon completing his Masters of Divinity, he received lifelong ordination from the Evangelical Covenant Church in Word & Sacrament. They then moved to California, revitalizing an existing 146-year-old church and establishing Celebrate Recovery.

After a visit to Melbourne Beach, they felt compelled to start a new church with a family-friendly, scripture-focused approach. After assessment and training, they were confirmed in their calling and relocated to follow it. Community involvement is crucial to them, and they eagerly serve and lead their new church on the Space Coast.

LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR

The Greater Melbourne area may be the most incredible place on earth. A place of exploration, technology, opportunity, and life. Every day feels like a vacation, but it is still a place you enjoy calling home. It’s beauty to the extreme.

Yet, amongst so much beauty and possibility there is hurt that lingers. Drug addiction and depression are on the rise. Stress and unhappiness are the reality for too many. 1 in 5 adults claim stress as the reason for leaving their job. And time and time again we have seen and heard how finding real community and friends feels impossible. With all that the area has to offer, many are missing the one thing that truly makes life beautiful: a relationship with Jesus.

At the end of Acts 2 it talks about the early church and how “every day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved.” Luke writes of good deeds garnering goodwill that created space for people to receive the good news and discover life in Jesus. People don't care what we know till they know that we care. We have to ask ourselves the question: are we caring for people first? We want to be a church that responds ‘yes’. A church where all are welcome and hope abounds.

There is something that awakens on the inside of me when I think about the opportunity in front of us. Now more than ever, I am convinced that God has brought us to this time and at this place on purpose and for purpose to serve our community, to build a welcoming community, and to reach out with the saving love of God found in Jesus Christ.
Together, creating a safe space for everyone to live, laugh, and love out the Good News of Jesus. That is our mission.

We understand that the only way this becomes possible is if God is in it. We need to pray like never before and believe God to do what only He can do. It’s about obedience, it’s about passion, it’s about coming together and seeing the vision come to life.  Happiness comes from our happenings, but our joy and laughter come from Jesus.

People are hungry for hope, and we want be a part of their story. I refuse to be complacent or to wonder “what if” while there are new stories to be written. We won’t stop until every person knows the truth and grace that has transformed our lives. My hope is that this inspires you and gives you the necessary information to prayerfully consider being a part of what God is doing THROUGH Rock Harbor Church.

Thank you for believing in the call of the local church, for believing in His mission and for taking a risk on a group of people who believe that God is doing something in the Melbourne, FL area. The story is just beginning.

WHY THE SPACE COAST?

Even though the Bible belt of the South-East United States still has a higher than average attendance...according to Gallup* Florida is closer to states like Maryland & New Jersey in church attendance and this is even more true in East-Central Florida.

Also, the closer you get to the coasts in all areas of the United States the lower church attendance is. In the Space Coast you have the addition of a highly scientific minded workforce and you find a place that is in high need of a relevant church plant.

However, these facts don’t scare us away but show us the need for Healthy Missional & Fruitful Churches in this area. We find this to be exciting and exactly where God is calling us.

God opened to the door to this area when Angie’s sister, MJ Baker became the head coach of Eastern Florida College’s Women’s Basketball Team. After visiting the area in January of 2018 it became clear that God was beginning to call the Diamond family to come alongside the Baker family to start a church there and in the upcoming months there were only “Green Lights.: We know that the Local Church is God’s “Plan A” to reach a hurting world with the redemptive message and power of the Good News of Jesus Christ and there is NO "Plan B." And we are ready to bring it to East-Central Florida.

01 Love First

Partnering with organizations to consistently serve our community. We align with organizations making a difference by providing them with people and resources to help meet needs in communities both locally and globally.

02 Build Community

Creating safe places for people to truly feel apart of a family. We want our communities to be the driving force of Rock Harbor FL, we will meet in homes, restaurants, coffee shops, and parks all over our area with the purpose of loving everyone, laughing often and doing life together.

03 Come Together

Gathering with purpose. Weekends are our opportunity to come together as a community and to invite our friends and family to a safe environment. One in which all feel welcome, inspired, encouraged and challenged through worship and engaging with the Bible. This our opportunity to be launched into the week.
