Week 3 - Solomon Builds the Temple

This week we get to go back to Jerusalem in 966BC where we get to meet the wise new king of Israel, Solomon. After 7 years of nonstop building, Solomon and his people built a temple made to worship God and God's spirit filled it. For 400 years the Israleites used the temple to make sacrifices to God and to worship him. We no longer have Solomon's temple, however our body is a living temple where God's spirit lives in us. We are the Church and God lives in us. The Church (not the building, the people) are people who love and follow Jesus. If you love and follow Jesus, you are a part of God's temple and God's spirit lives inside you.

When it’s time to begin, start your morning of family worship by watching the short lesson video with your kids. It’s a great way to engage spiritually with your family.

Here is a snapshot of the lesson details for this week:
Bible Story: Solomon Builds the Temple - 1 Kings 5-9
Big Idea: The Holy Spirit lives within the Church, so we should make meeting together our #1 priority
Memory Verse: “And because you belong to him, you too are being built together. You are being made into a house where God lives through his Spirit.” Ephesians 2:22 (NIrV)

I pray that even if we can't meet together, we can still be the Church, by loving others and showing that we are different by how we live because God's spirit lives in us!
