Week 4 - The Kingdom Divided
Max will be taking us in the Imagination Time Machine to 930 BC, outside the walls of Jerusalem. Where King Solomon is worshiping false gods and encourages others to do the same. Solomon is warned to turn away from his sin, but he refuses. After his death, his son Rehoboam becomes king and chooses to yell and threaten the 10 northern tribes. This sin tore the nation of Israel into two. We as a Church need to not let sin tear us apart and we need to stick together. When sin creeps in, that is when the community of believers get destroyed. That is why it is so important to just say "no" to sin and if you mess up to confess and turn away from sin.
BIG IDEA: Sin tears God’s people apart, so we should confess and turn away from our sinful desires.
BIBLE BASIS: 1 Kings 11:1–12:24
KEY VERSE: “Why do you fight and argue among yourselves? Isn’t it because of your sinful desires? They fight within you.” James 4:1 (NIrV)
